Lorraine Mooketsi’s journey into beekeeping and agriculture began long before she established her first hive. Growing up in a farming household, she was exposed from an early age to the discipline, patience, and dedication required to work with the land and care for livestock. Her father, an astute farmer of note, played an important role in shaping her appreciation for agriculture and the opportunities it can create.
Building on this foundation, Lorraine pursued formal training in beekeeping through the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and further developed her knowledge of food safety through the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). These experiences have strengthened her understanding of responsible honey production, quality standards, and the importance of producing safe, natural, and high-quality products.
Lorraine holds a degree in Library and Information Science, a background that has contributed to her strong approach to research, information management, planning, and continuous learning. She brings these skills into the day-to-day running of the business, combining her academic background with practical agricultural knowledge and hands-on experience.
Under her leadership, Mompati Projects (Pty) Ltd has developed into a diversified agricultural and wellness enterprise with three key divisions: stock farming, honey production, and wellness, with beekeeping and honey production at the heart of the business.

At Lolo's Bee Products, our primary focus is producing pure, high-quality honey and natural beeswax products from our hives in Lichtenburg, Mabaalstad, and Lehurutshe in the North West Province.
We are committed to responsible beekeeping, careful harvesting, and maintaining the natural quality of every product. As we grow, we aim to bring proudly South African honey to customers across the country and into international markets.

The Road We've Travelled
A few milestones along the way
Our growth and key Achievements & Milestones.
1. Mompati Projects founded
Started in 2019 as a female-led mixed farming operation, beginning with a small number of hives in the North West Province.
2. ARC & SABS training
Completed beekeeping training with the Agricultural Research Council and food safety training with the South African Bureau of Standards.
3. Provincial agricultural summits
Showcased at various provincial agricultural summits, giving beekeeping and honey production a platform in a marketplace where it hadn't yet been popular.
4. Apimondia, Denmark — Sep 2025
Nominated to attend the international Apimondia beekeepers' congress in Denmark, networking with beekeepers from across the world.
5. Invited by the Mauritius government
Invited to deliver an address on beekeeping operations, motivating young aspirants looking to start their own honey production business.
6. Networking with the Minister of Agriculture
Invited by Minister John Steenhuisen to a session on unlocking a sustainable, inclusive beekeeping industry — "Bees and Beyond."

Building a Recognised Honey Enterprise
Nominated to attend the Apimondia International Apicultural Congress in Denmark in September 2025, providing an opportunity to connect and learn alongside beekeepers from around the world.
